Rescue Me ID: 17-06-06-00343TEDDY (male)

Pomeranian    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

UPDATE FROM TEDDY'S FOSTER MOM... (side note: as I lay here typing this I am being attacked by doggy kisses and him rolling all over me)... Teddy is an absolutely amazing senior. His new favorite things are belly rubs(took time, but he decided 2 days ago that he really likes them), he crawls up and rolls over on you until he gets them, and playing with his ball. He is doing great with potty training, has only had a couple accidents (trying to use potty mat but his aim was off so can't be to mad) other than that he will hold it until outside, or attempts the mat. We took down his pen, as he found he likes the pillows on the bed better, and we ... (Read More)tested him slowly and he does great left alone for a few hours to roam. He just wants to be by people, and really is my little shadow. He is good with Gabby(who is 6) and when she gets to crazy he knows to retreat to behind our legs. He will come to her for attention and give her kisses too. We had friends over the other day, including two other kids, and he was shy for all of 5 minutes and then made his rounds for attention after he seen the other 4 getting petted. He is good with the pack, really observes them now, even slept with two of them in the same bed,and is starting to mimic some of their behaviors(thankfully the good ones). He is not aggressive with food, if the others come up he will walk away, so we feed him separately so he will eat, even taking treats with all of them he patiently waits his turn and takes from hands gently, even our daughters fingers are safe. He has become so much less nervous by all the new noises, he even will sleep through us coming and going now. Once in a while he will look up when someone walks in a room, but then he just puts his head down. When you lay down he is all over you for attention, is still really playful for an older guy, and listens well. I forgot to mention he has the cutest little prance/walk. We just love him to pieces, he is such a great house guest. Teddy is going to melt someone's heart, he truly is such an amazing little guy!! Meet Teddy. Teddy is an owner surrender who comes from us with the help of another rescue. Teddy has spent most of his 12 years on a lead outside with just a dog house, in all types of weather. He was found severely matted with lots of stuff in his fur. The other rescue worked with owners to educate them on what was best for the little guy, but when that did not work she asked them to surrender him so he could live out his life properly. He is a 9lb sweetheart with a lot of love still in him. He has had very limited human contact so is very shy still with people but full of kisses and cuddles when he comes around. He is learning from his foster family how cool it is to be an indoor dog. He wears a belly band inside and will need a family to continue working on potty training with him. Teddy is still a nervous boy so would do best in a calm house with older or no kids. He has not shown aggression towards other dogs, but is also very scared of them, so a home with no dogs or older calm dogs (who are not pushy) would be preferred. He will also need a 'safe place'to retreat to when scared or to sleep(an open kennel with blanket over it works) as this helps him to relax. He is up to date on his shots, neutered, and has had a dental. If you or someone you know are interested in taking in this handsome senior and showing him the good life you can fill out an adoption form online. (Less)
