Pomeranian    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

INTERESTED IN ADOPTING? PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE AT WWW.MAGGIESMISSIONRESCUE.ORG Kenny is about five years old and large for a Pomeranian. Don't let his breed fool you; he's no purse pup at 17 lbs! Kenny is an active and fun guy who loves long walks, food puzzles, playing with his ball, and swimming in the pool. After all that activity, he likes to relax with a warm lap, a soft blanket, and a pile of chewies. Tummy rubs are always appreciated. Kenny has potential with other dogs with a proper slow introduction; he's not much into playing with other dogs but does enjoy their company. He will chase a timid cat, so confident ... (Read More)felines or none at all in his forever home, please. He is fearful of new persons and places; a low-traffic adult home is necessary, preferably with a fenced yard. He does have the shrill Pomeranian bark, so take that into consideration if your home has shared walls. Kenny is of course altered and up to date with preventative care. It will take some time and effort on your behalf to earn Kenny's trust, but once you do, you've got a GREAT little buddy for many years to come! (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-03-06-00107Sally (female)

Pomeranian Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

A home with dog experience is preferred as she does need a adopter who is willing to continue with her training. While Sally has been terribly mistreated, when she trusts, she is a different girl. Always wanting to be with her human. I advise an exercise pen if she needs to be contained while you are away (she will 'steal' things off of your coffee table to play with). She has learned to enjoy being brushed. Usually when I am brushing the others, she will line up to get her brushing in. Very playful, but hasn't learned to 'play' with me with the toys. She just entertains herself. She has such a sweet side to her, she has just been horribly ... (Read More)mistreated and just needs LOVE. Soft correction and an even voice and tempermant when working with her. Her biggest issue is probably in the picking up area. It's not so much the picking up as when you set her down. She will react quickly to protect herself. I don't know what might have caused this, but she doesn't like the being put down part. I have learned to lay her down on her side on the couch, floor, or bed and then she does fine. She will let me hold her and cuddle with her and even lets me sneak a kiss in now and then. She will make someone an awesome girl............she just needs love and patience. Sally has been terribly mistreated and trust has been slow for her. Sally does not like crates but she does well in her exercise pen. I have to lead her in on a leash. Sally has learned to let me bathe her, towel dry her, she waits for her feet to be dried off when she comes in. She has started letting me 'clean' her face (eyes) off with a wash rag. She loves her toys though. She didn't seem to know what they were when she first came to me. We haven't got the play together and fetch thing going yet though, but she will entertain herself with the toys. She likes to sleep with me and she loves to be wherever I am. Sadly, it has gotten her stepped on a few times. She will lash out if she feels cornered, so slow and easy is the key to her. For some reason she has a terrible reaction to the word 'NO' so I tell her uh-uh instead or use verbal sounds like 'mouth clicks' to get her attention. It took her over a month before she would even wag her tail. Now her tail wags constantly. She has learned to trust, but needs soft, patient, verbals from her person. She absolutely LOVES my foster Reed. She is constantly 'grooming' him. Cleaning around his eyes and such. Sally is learning so much and has come such a long way with me in a very short amount of time. She just needs someone with patience and a lot of love to show her the way. Another dog would be great so she has a companion and a yard to run in. She runs like the wind and has about caught the squirrels.........they like to tease when she misses, but loves the yard to lay in. She thinks she should drive also, but loves to go with you places. I have taken her to Lowes a few times to get her out and about and she does well. A little cautious about others but friendly to them. While Sally is doing very well with potty training there are still the occasional accidents. If I leave her in her exercise pen, she holds it. 99% of the time she will use the potty pads but once in awhile she 'misses'. I normally am only gone for about 4 hrs before I come home and let them out to potty. She has done very well with this schedule. If I know I may be gone longer, I will put her in her pen...........much to her displeasure as she likes to be with everyone else, but she manages to hold out or use the pads if left there. Rescued by COPR from a Chicago shelter. PIease Read Before Adopting a Pomeranian in Ohio
Pomeranian Dogs can make good pets in Ohio if they match your IifestyIe. The Pomeranian is a poufy, fox-like toy breed. Pomeranians are vivacious and intelligent. This breed may become skittish around very young, rambunctious kids. Pomeranians need consistent, thorough obedience training. Pomeranians do fine living in an apartment if they get enough exercise.

Though it is surprising in light of its small size, the Pomeranian is closely related to the German Spitz. A Pomeranian puppy is about the size of a human thumb. Paris Hilton has three lap dogs that are all Pomeranians. Pomeranians have been used as circus performers.
