Rescue Me ID: 17-01-03-00161Kay-Kay (male)

Pomeranian    Age: Senior

Date into Rescue: 10/12/2016 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release/ fianancial and health reasons. Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? No. Weight: 11 lbs Height: Estimated 8' at the shoulder. Adoption Fee: $200 Fence needed? No What kind of home would be best for me? Kay Kay would flourish in a quiet home with an experienced dog owner who really loves him. He's been let down by humans. He needs someone to understand him.. He is not a huge fan of other dogs. If another dog is in the home it should be a older, submissive kind of dog. What is my personality like? Kay Kay is very reserved, you really ... (Read More)have to work with him to get him to come out of his shell. He does not need to be by your side at all hours of the day and is independent. Though KayKay has his independent side, he will still get next to you and give you small kisses. He does great on a leash, doesn't pull or fight against it. He loves meaty treats and is in the process of learning how to sit. He also likes to keep a clean crate and potties as soon as he steps outside. KayKay has one small problem, he does not liked to be picked up. If you do pick him up he squeels, I do not think he is familiar with such and is why he shows this type of behavior. After working with him for a few minutes he allowed me to pick him up and hold him. Kay Kay would be a perfect dog for someone that is looking to work with a dog that has some trust issues. Once you earn his trust he will truly become yours. How I act when I first meet new people: Cautious. House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained. A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. My age: birthdate around 5/1/2007 Please note - we do not ship dogs. If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip. To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home. You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc. Others here may be a better fit for you. It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description. Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a dog not in our listings yet. We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you.
