Rescue Me ID: 14-09-22-00502Pommie (female)

Pomeranian    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current, Abused/Neglected,

Meet Pommie a 3-5 year old purebred Pomeranian who has had one heck of a life up until her recent rescue (about 6 weeks ago.) Pommie was used at a puppy mill as a breeding mom for the entirety of her life so far. If you don't know what a puppy mill is, please google it and spread the word! She was caged 24 hours a day, in her own feces and urine and bred from her first head cycle constantly for 3-5 years. During that time she could have produced up to 2 litters a year. These 'breeders' then take the puppies away as early as 4 weeks old (when they should not be taken from their mother until 8-10 weeks), and sell them to pet stores and ... (Read More)online. They ship the puppies site unseen so that most people don't know how inhumane they are to the parents. Please never buy a puppy from a pet store or from a website that ships and spay/neuter your pets so these people go out of business! Now back to Pommie. She is a shy girl who does not like to be caught or handled. As stated above she has not had much human interaction but is starting to slowly bond with staff and volunteers at the rescue. She is very timid and shy, and gets confused when she is picked up so she will need someone very special to take her on and show her that humans can really show love and compassion! SHE IS NOT POTTY TRAINED. We are unsure how she would do with children, but recommend only older children in the house as small children and loud noises would probably be too much for her. She is UTD on shots, has an apt to be spayed 9/30 and is micro-chipped. (Less)

Charlie is very loving and loyal and loves to be a lap dog. He came to live with us as a foster dog and we thought we could keep him. Unfortunately, our yard is easy to escape and I'm afraid for his safety. Out of love for Charlie we need to find him a safe loving environment. He is good with kids, other dogs and cats. I believe he is about 6 years old.

Rescue Me ID: 14-09-21-00316Lionel (male)

Pomeranian    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Obese

Lionel is a porky 5-year-old male Pomeranian who weighs 16 pounds. He is a happy guy who seems to always be smiling. Poor Lionel was so matted when we rescued him that we had to shave him. Lionel was fantastic during his grooming and the groomer said ' I LOVE this DOG!' Lionel is sweet and happy to meet new people. He is a great companion dog and loves to cuddle up next to his foster dad. He has a low energy about him and is happiest just having a place to lay down. We think Lionel was primarily an outdoor dog because he so desires human affection. He will immediately roll over on his back and beg for tummy rubs! Lionel does very well on a ... (Read More)leash and loves to go for walks, but because he is so fat he tires easily, and we also think he was never walked much. Lionel loves to run after his plushy toys and although he only brings them back about 50 percent of the time, he still has a ton of fun. He does well with other dogs, but we are unsure about cats. Lionel is a bit on the chunky side so we are working on losing 2-3 pounds so he can get to a healthy weight and enjoy a more active lifestyle. Lionel will make a great companion for any living situation, but a backyard is preferable. We also think older children are preferable since we do not know his history with little tiny children. He does well with other dogs, but mostly ignores them. He would probably prefer to be an only dog and receive all of his owners undivided attention. We think he will do just fine with cats. Lionel is crate trained although he does take some motivation to go inside his crate. Lionel is being fostered in the Queen Anne Neighborhood and will be ready for adoption on Friday, September 26th. Lionel's adoption fee is $375. He is neutered, fully vaccinated, micro chipped, tested negative for heart worm, de-wormed, fecal tested (negative), and had a complete dental cleaning with a few extractions. Please email for additional information. (Less)

Though it is surprising in light of its small size, the Pomeranian is closely related to the German Spitz. A Pomeranian puppy is about the size of a human thumb.
